In-Game Events

Giovanni Rocket Special Research – Start of each month
  • No new Giovanni Special Research from May until the end of September

Changes to Items, Features, and Bonuses (Effective Globally Until Further Notice, Unless Otherwise Specified)

PokéStops and Gyms
  • The distance from which you can interact with Gyms and PokéStops has been temporarily doubled.
  • Trainers can now join Raids remotely with Remote Raid Passes. In the future, Trainers joining the Raid remotely will do less damage than Trainers joining in-person, but currently they do the same amount of damage. Also, there is usually a limit of 5 Trainers who can join a Raid remotely in a single lobby, but currently that has been bumped up to 10.
EX Raids
  • Trainers won’t be able to receive invites to new EX Raids.
  • 1/2 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators.
Field Research
  • Trainers can now receive bonus Field Research tasks automatically.
  • PokéStops will drop Gifts more frequently, and the number of Gifts you can open daily will increase to 30 and the number of Gifts you can carry in your inventory will increase to 20.
    • Gifts will contain more PokéBalls than usual.
    • Your Buddy Pokémon will bring you Gifts from nearby PokéStops if there is space in your Item Bag.
GO Battle League and Trainer Battles
  • Through GO Battle League Season 2 – Walking distance and PokéCoin requirements for unlocking new sets have been removed globally. If you’re currently in the middle of walking to earn a set, these changes will take effect from your next set. We may revisit the length of this extension as we near that date.
  • Trainers can now battle remotely with Good Friends (1 heart). Previously, this was only possible with Ultra Friends (3 hearts) and Best Friends (4 hearts).
  • Incense will last for 1 hour, rather than the usual 30 minutes.
Increased Pokémon Encounters
  • Pokémon habitats will increase and more Pokémon will be appearing in the wild.
Increased Stardust and XP for Daily Streak Rewards
  • 3× Stardust and XP for your first Pokémon catch of the day.
